APPLICATION & FEES

We are here to help you find the right programme to prepare you for a lifetime of ministry

BEGIN YOUR APPLICATION

We welcome applicants whose readiness for theological training is affirmed by the leaders of their church. The application process is described below.

If you’d like advice, or have a question that’s not covered here, get in touch via our enquiries page and one of the team will help you.

When you’re ready, you can use our online form to start your application.

  • Applicants must present the following:

    — A completed application form, three references and an elder's recommendation

    — A 2–3 page spiritual autobiography.

    — A CV highlighting previous employment and education experience.

    — Transcripts of any previous university or seminary study.

Applicants for the MDiv programme must hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Those who do not hold a prior degree may apply for the BDiv.

Applicants who already hold a degree in theology may be admitted to the MDiv programme with advanced standing. This may also apply to students who have done relevant undergraduate or postgraduate work in other relevant disciplines.

  • Students enrolled in a theology degree at another institution may apply to transfer to our Master’s programmes with advanced standing. Applicants must submit an official transcript showing the courses they have completed, indicating at least a ‘C’ or 2:2 average. They must also be in good standing at their previous institution, and a statement of honourable dismissal may be required. Previous work will be evaluated for credit. No credit will be allowed for work that received less than a grade of ‘C’ or 2:2.

  • We welcome international applicants. They must be proficient in English: we require a TOEFL score of 90 or an IELTS score of 6.5 for any of our degree programmes. They must also have sufficient funding. They must also comply with all applicable immigration/visa requirements. Our ASIC accreditation allows us to support applications for a 6-month short-term study visa in any twelve-month rolling period; unfortunately we cannot presently offer Tier 4 visas. We will, however, try to help in whatever way we can.

At Westminster we prepare ministers to serve the church through the church and in the church. This means that:

    – Our teaching is provided by men who are pastors as well as theologians.

    – Our students immerse themselves in a local church where they worship, exercise their gifts, and benefit from the mentorship of an experienced pastor.

We appreciate this means that some students will choose to remain where God has placed them rather than relocating to Newcastle to study with us in person. Our hybrid model of learning allows students to earn a Master’s or a Bachelor’s in Divinity while remaining within their church family, and we provide distance education through a synchronous, in-class experience for these students.

  • Our fees are £200 per credit hour. On a four-year MDiv or BDiv programme this averages out at £6,200 per year.

Through our internship programmes and sponsorship we aim to ensure that fees are not a barrier to you studying with us. Please get in touch about our internship programmes, sponsorship, or for any other fee inquiries.

The fees include access to our library and facilities in Newcastle.
