PILGRIM LIFE IN A FALLEN WORLD

24–26 October 2024, Newcastle

‘To the pilgrims of the Dispersion...elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ’

1 PETER 1:1

Peter’s first epistle, likely written during Nero’s reign, is a masterpiece of pastoral wisdom and comfort.

Peter encourages the scattered believers in modern-day Turkey to endure severe persecution by taking Christ as their model: to arm themselves with Christ’s attitude, knowing that, after they have suffered a little while, they will share in His glory.

After centuries in which Christianity has been in the ascendency, we’re tempted to think the world’s hostility a strange thing. The apostle reminds us that the Christian has never been at home in the world. We are pilgrims and strangers—but a glorious destiny awaits us!

Join us on 24–26 October 2024, as we learn from Peter what it means to be Pilgrims in a Fallen World.
