Westminster travels Stateside

3,600 miles of driving. 18 churches. 9 States. 5 weeks.

Seminary Director Jonathan Winch has returned from a whistle-stop tour in the US, aimed to develop partnerships between Westminster and American supporters.

“They were astonished that Westminster is the first Confessional Presbyterian seminary in England in a century.”

Throughout the visit, Jonathan had the opportunity to speak to congregations, missions teams, deacons and pastors. It was a great encouragement to see their interest in church planting across Europe and in Westminster’s distinctive warm-hearted Presbyterianism.

For many, the spiritual state of the UK came as a surprise: "They were astonished that Westminster is the first Confessional Presbyterian seminary in England in a century."

Accommodation throughout the trip was generously provided by church members. Jonathan and his wife Julie were treated to the full range of authentic US hospitality, including guest rooms lined with firearms, and alligator-infested back yards.

“The Lord is blessing their commitment to simple, reverent worship and the faithful ‘no-frills’ exposition of God’s Word.”

What stands out from the trip? “The overwhelming love and generosity of our American brothers and sisters made an abiding impression. We were also struck by the way the Lord is blessing their commitment to simple, reverent worship and the faithful ‘no-frills’ exposition of God’s Word.”

We continue to give thanks for the generosity of American believers. Their support, both in prayer and giving, makes our vision possible of training men to plant Christ-centred churches in the UK and throughout Europe.
